NEW ORLEANS -- For as much as Texas' 28-21 win over Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night was a statement for the Longhorns, it will be viewed -- at least in many Texas' fans eyes -- as a message to the SEC.
And so began the "SEC! SEC! SEC!" chants late in the second half as the Longhorns put the finishing touches on their victory over the fifth-ranked Bulldogs, who entered as 12.5-point favorites, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Texas fans broke out the chants periodically late in the game. That also led to chants of "over-rated, over-rated.
