For the second time this season, the Texas Longhorns have fallen from the AP Top 25 in the aftermath of a conference loss.
The latest example comes after Texas fell just short on the road to the Iowa State Cyclones, 23-21, thanks in large part to the leg of Cyclones kicker Connor Assalley, who split the uprights from 36 yards out as time expired. In doing so, Assalley and the Cyclones effectively ended Texas’ Big 12 title aspirations and guaranteed a regression from a 2018 season that certainly seemed to be a turning point for the program.
