It didn't come without some late-game drama, but Texas softball eliminated Texas A&M from the NCAA tournament Saturday after recording a wild 3-2 extra innings victory in the Austin Regional.
The No. 9 Longhorns were on the brink of taking care of business in regulation, carrying a 2-1 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. But a throwing error on what would have been the final out of the game allowed Texas A&M to knot the contest at 2-2, sending the game to extras.
Texas, however, took the lead right back in the top of the 8th when the Aggies returned the favor with a throwing error of their own, allowing sophomore Janae Jefferson to score from second base.
