Despite a 7-5 regular season finish, the Texas Longhorns will still take part in one of the nation’s more notable bowl games, as Tom Herman’s team has earned a bid to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
Meeting the Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl will be the Utah Utes (11-2), which were on the cusp of a potential College Football Playoff appearance before falling to the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Championship.
The Alamo Bowl will mark just the second ever meeting between Texas and Utah. The first matchup took place nearly four decades ago, with the Longhorns beating the Utes, 21-12, in 1982.
