AUSTIN -- The Longhorns will be without a key member of their defense on Saturday against No. 13 West Virginia.
Texas coach Tom Herman announced after Thursday's practice that senior defensive tackle Chris Nelson is out against West Virginia after rolling his ankle in practice on Tuesday. Herman described the injury as a "weird deal" from an "innocent play," but said that Nelson should be able to play next week.
"It was severe enough to where this week was pretty much off the table," Herman said, "but not season ending."
Nelson has 23 total tackles and five tackles for loss this season.
