AUSTIN -- Contrary to his announcement following Thursday's practice, Texas coach Tom Herman said Saturday that senior defensive tackle Chris Nelson has been cleared to play against West Virginia.

Herman originally said Nelson would be out against West Virginia after rolling his ankle in practice on Tuesday. Junior Gerald Wilbon was supposed to start in his place. It's unclear if Nelson will now start Saturday.
