Texas drops out of AP Poll Top 25 following Arkansa loss

As the Texas Longhorns prepare for next Saturday’s home game against the Rice Owls, head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team dropped out of the AP Poll Top 25 on Sunday following the 40-21 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

After starting the season ranked No. 21, Texas moved up to No. 15 in the wake of the season-opening win over then-No. 23 Louisiana. But voters clearly took a dim view of the beatdown by an Arkansas team that struggled to get past Rice in the opener. In fact, 10 other programs, including TCU, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State, received more votes than Texas, despite the Wildcats struggling with an FCS opponent and the Cowboys needed a 21-point fourth quarter to sneak past the Golden Hurricane.
