With less than two weeks until the season opener against the Colorado State Rams at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Texas Longhorns are concerned enough about depth at the running back position to keep junior Jaydon Blue and sophomore Tre Wisner in green non-contact jerseys during last Saturday’s scrimmage, the second of preseason camp.
That’s because position coach Tashard Choice is down to three healthy scholarship players at running back following the season-ending injuries to sophomore CJ Baxter and freshman Christian Clark, leaving Choice and head coach Steve Sarkisian to pursue all possible options to add depth, including from the NCAA transfer portal with one scholarship available for the fall.
