Texas coach Charlie Strong admits 'losses are mounting,' says 'there are no excuses'

AUSTIN - Never mind Saturday’s game with Kansas.

Charlie Strong’s job status at Texas took center stage Monday at the football coach’s weekly press conference.

Ten games into Strong’s third season, Texas sits at 5-5 with the Jayhawks and TCU remaining on the schedule.

Strong indicated he’s as aware as anyone about his record and status with rumors swirling about his job status since early in the season.

"I look at how we’re playing. I don't ever make excuses. There are no excuses," Strong said, adding that “the losses are mounting.”

Realistically, Strong would probably have to win out to be relatively secure of a fourth season, although nothing is guaranteed.
