Before we get into the meat of this topic, we need to preface with the fact that head Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart isn’t the most popular figure with this program at the moment and we get that. This piece doesn’t have much to do with the success, or lack thereof, that Smart found on the hardwood with Texas basketball. Instead, we’re keeping the focus here on the recruiting trail.
For the past two recruiting cycles, the Texas Longhorns basketball program hauled in top 15 ranked class in the nation. That is at least if the Longhorns can hang on to get the top spot in the 2019 Big 12 recruiting rankings and stay in the current position.
