The 2020 Texas basketball recruiting class is hoping to get off to a solid start soon, without a single commit in store as of Jan. 11. The only Big 12 basketball program that has a 2020 commit thus far in the recruiting cycle is the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton got off to a good start for his recruiting classes for the 2019 and 2020 cycles.
However, Texas Longhorns basketball head coach Shaka Smart is also a good recruiter traditionally, but needs to get more momentum going for the 2020 cycle. One factor that could help Smart out was the recent coach visit to a key point guard target.
