For head coach Shaka Smart, getting ahead of the game for Texas basketball recruiting is key to having so much success with some of the top prospects in the nation. If he can close out the 2019 Texas basketball recruiting class with some success, Smart could lock up yet another top 20 ranked group in the nation from his four years on the Forty Acres.
One of the highly touted prospects being pursued by Smart is a very talented five-star 2021 point guard hailing from Santa Ana, CA, Devin Askew. The Texas Longhorns don’t have a commit in place yet for the 2020 or 2021 recruiting classes.
