The Texas Baseball team lost 7-1 to the Rice Owls on Sunday afternoon to split the four-game series at two games apiece.
Rice scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning, but Texas’ Bret Boswell tied the game 1-1 with a home run in the bottom of the fifth.
Then, Rice blew open the game with five runs in the top of the sixth.
Texas starter Connor Mayes was well on his way to the fourth straight outstanding start for the Texas pitching staff this weekend. But, the Owls rallied for five runs in the 6th to take a 6-1 lead.
