In addition to the Maui Invitational that will now happen in North Carolina instead of Hawaii, the Texas Longhorns added a second non-conference men’s basketball game on Monday — a Dec. 9 game against the Texas State Bobcats at the Erwin Center.
Texas is scheduled to open the season against UTRGV on Nov. 25 before traveling to Asheville for three games. With conference play starting on Dec. 13, it will be an extremely abbreviated non-conference schedule for the Longhorns this season.
Texas State has won 20 or more games in three of the last four seasons, but the architect of that success, former Sam Houston State head coach Danny Kaspar, resigned in late September after players alleged that he made racially insensitive comments towards them.
