AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Basketball Interim Head Coach Rodney Terry has been named Sporting News Men's College Basketball National Coach of the Year, the publication announced Wednesday morning. Terry is the first coach in Texas Basketball program history to earn the prestigious honor.
The annual award is presented to the best men's college basketball head coach in NCAA Division I competition. The honor was first given in 1964 following the 1963-64 season and is presented by Sporting News, a United States-based sports magazine that was established in 1886.
