Underdog Tennessee Tech proved it belonged in the Super Regional with a 5-4 win in Austin on the strength of opportunistic hitting and excellent closing work from Ethan Roberts (drafted in 4th round in MLB draft, also threw over 50 pitches). They’re a legitimately good baseball team and the environment in Austin didn’t overwhelm them at all. The Horns now have a hole to climb out of and need to win the last two contests.
Today’s win was Tennessee Tech’s best foot forward with respect to pitching. Let’s see what arms they’ve got tomorrow, and if the Longhorns can get this series to 1-1, what they can roll out in the deciding contest on Monday.
