Targeting or not? Texas' Kris Boyd avoids ejection despite helmet-to-helmet hit

The Longhorns dodged a potential bullet in the third quarter of Saturday's game against No. 8 Baylor.

Bears quarterback Seth Russell ran right through Texas' defense on a third down with just under 10 minutes to play in the period. The senior picked up a first down with an 11-yard gain before Texas cornerback Kris Boyd launched into his helmet while attempting to make the tackle.

Officials went to the replay booth to determine whether Boyd should be called for targeting, but ultimately did not call a foul. Baylor went on to score a few plays later to take a 28–26 lead.
