AUSTIN — Asked again Wednesday if he has any interest in becoming the head football coach at Miami, Texas’ Charlie Strong tried to downplay a story that won’t go away.
“It’s all a rumor,” Strong said. “We’re here to build a program. That’s why I’m here.”
Although Strong didn’t offer an outright denial of the possibility he might leave the Longhorns for the Hurricanes, who fired Al Golden earlier this year, he said he’s committed to UT, which is 10-13 in his two seasons, including a 4-6 record this year.
“I have to be successful here,” Strong said.
