Major League players Huston Street and Drew Stubbs are among 15 former Texas baseball players who have combined to pledge $386,693 to endow a baseball scholarship for the Longhorns.
The announcement, made Tuesday, is a clear sign that Texas men’s athletic director Steve Patterson is making headway in persuading athletic programs at Texas to help defray scholarship costs.
“We appreciate our former baseball student-athletes stepping up and providing support for generations to come,” Patterson said in a statement. “This group provides an inspirational example for other student-athletes on how they can continue to make an impact after leaving the Forty Acres.
