AUSTIN, Texas — In the nearly 40 months that Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has spent on the Forty Acres, his quest to find big humans in the trenches and win championships have served as his parallel and primary endeavors.
While Sarkisian and offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kyle Flood had to immediately reshape the roster to find more impact players to fill Flood’s position room, the Texas head coach benefited from the presence of defensive tackles Byron Murphy and T’Vondre Sweat. Though both players had to mature and develop to facilitate their respective breakout performances during the 2023 season, now Sarkisian needs to revamp new defensive line coach Kenny Baker’s position room without the presence of any early impact high school signees along the interior defensive line left over from the tenure of Bo Davis, now at LSU.
