Here’s what we learned about Texas during spring football:

What we learned about the offense: As is becoming tradition at Texas, the freshman backup quarterback is the most popular kid in Austin. Shane Buechele’s impressive spring game debut inspired a lot of hope, but he’ll continue to compete with Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard in August for the starting job. A lot of the pieces are in place for this offense to succeed if Texas gets the QB decision right. First-year offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert made good progress on installing his scheme.
