Shaka Smart gave the nod to former VCU player Darius Theus to join the Texas Basketball staff next season, reports 247Sports.com.
Theus will be the “Director of Player Development,” helping current players better receive the message from Coach Smart and the overall coaching staff.
When Smart was at VCU, Darius Theus was part of the team that made the 2011 Final Four. So, he knows what a winning culture looks like.
Since coming to Texas, Shaka Smart has tried to find the right mix of support coaches to form a cohesive unit.
