AUSTIN, Texas – Zach Shackelford was named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy watch list, the Boomer Esiason Foundation announced on Tuesday morning. The award is annually given to college football's best center. No Longhorn has ever won the Rimington Trophy since it began in 2000. Chris Hall was a finalist in 2009.
Shackelford was named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America in 2016. He started nine games at the center position as a true freshman.
