The coaches may not like the timing of Saturday's SEC/Big 12 Challenge, wedged right into the middle of the conference schedule.
They still acknowledge that it serves its purpose as a one-day TV showcase that focuses the attention of the basketball world on the two conferences.
"We know what it is. It's a TV deal. It promotes both leagues. We got a great opponent," said TCU coach Jamie Dixon, whose team hosts Florida. "It is what it is.... It is a great event. They'll be talking about the Big 12 and SEC all weekend."
It all could give the winning league a boost in the analytics.
