LAFAYETTE, La. – Texas sophomore Harrison Scott toppled the highest-ranked opponent of his career and rallied to claim the men's singles title Sunday afternoon at the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic.
The 71st-ranked Scott came from behind to post a 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Kentucky's 15th-ranked William Bushamuka and won the 32-player singles draw at the four-day event.
At No. 15, Bushamuka is the highest-ranked student-athlete to fall victim to Scott in the Canadian's one-plus season with the Longhorns. Scott's highest-ranked victory to date had been a win over Ohio State's 45th-ranked Hugo Di Feo in the third round of the 2016 NCAA Championships.
