SINGAPORE – Texas rising sophomore swimmer Joseph Schooling capped a triumphant return to his native Singapore and won his ninth gold medal of the meet Thursday at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
Schooling joined countrymen Zheng Wen Quah, Lionel Khoo and Clement Lim to win the 400m medley relay in a meet record of 3 minutes, 38.25 seconds. Schooling, one of the world's elite butterfly swimmers, split 51.50 on the relay's butterfly leg to help put away the relay for Singapore.
The 2015 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Schooling leaves Singapore with gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, 50m & 100m freestyle, 200m IM and the 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay and 400 medley realy.
