When freshman kicker Cameron Dicker helped the No. 19 Texas Longhorns squeak past the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday in the Red River Showdown, 48-45, thanks to a game-winning field goal, the game drew more than 5.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Not only was it the most-watched game between the two rivals at the Cotton Bowl since 2011, it was the most-watched college football game on Saturday and the most-watched college football game on FOX Sports this season. Viewership climbed 55 percent over last season’s game.
