NEW YORK – Texas Football junior tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week for his standout game at Alabama in week two, the Friends of John Mackey announced on Friday. It marks the first time in his career that Sanders has received the weekly honor.
In the Longhorns' 34-24 victory at the Crimson Tide, Sanders tallied in five receptions for a career-high 114 yards, including a career-best 50-yard reception that set up Texas' go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter. On the play, Sanders caught the pass at the Alabama 40-yard line and ran it 33 yards to the Tide 7-yard line.
