Reports: Texas likely to fire Rodney Terry after First Four loss to Xavier

Shotmaking matters.

Five three-pointers over six minutes by the Xavier Musketeers spurred head coach Sean Miller’s team to an 86-80 victory over the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday in Dayton in a First Four matchup of No. 11 seeds.

Playing poor basketball late doomed the Longhorns. When Xavier took the lead on a three-pointer with 5:07 remaining, Texas freshman guard Tre Johnson had an unusual meltdown on the court, losing poise by taking and missing a bad three off the dribble, failing to get back in transition, and committing a soft foul from behind on a layup that turned into a three-point play.
