Reports: Pair of Longhorns looking to transfer

AUSTIN — After four days of preseason camp, a pair of Texas backups apparently have decided they don’t want to stick around for a fifth.

Freshman linebacker Cecil Cherry and redshirt freshman running back Duke Catalon both are seeking a waiver to transfer from the program, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. Orangebloods.com broke news of Cherry’s departure, and Horns Digest was the first to report the Catalon news.

UT coach Charlie Strong is expected to address the status of Cherry and Catalon after Tuesday evening’s practice.

Cherry was one of six players who committed to UT from the state of Florida in this year’s recruiting class.
