The No. 1 Texas Longhorns are expected to open SEC play on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against the Mississippi State Bulldogs without starting quarterback Quinn Ewers, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is not expected to play against Mississippi State today, per ESPN sources. A final decision will be made later in the day, as Ewers is nearly 70-percent and the coaching staff is prioritizing full health for Oklahoma. https://t.co/tBlT9HkTPA

Head coach Steve Sarkisian said on Thursday that he would make a decision about the availability of Ewers on Friday, but no official announcements came from the school and no information trickled out until Thamel’s report on Saturday morning.
