Shaka Smart is only two years into his stint with the Texas Longhorns, which has been up and down. He had a successful year in 2015-16, going 20-13 and making the NCAA Tournament. The second season didn’t go as well, though, as UT went just 11-22. This included losing leading scorer Tevin Mack to an indefinite suspension and program release.
Would this be enough for Smart to consider leaving Texas? Not quite, but he did receive interest from another school that wanted to pry him away. According to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports, Georgetown reached out to Smart for potential interest in their vacant head coach position.
