Texas is aiming to revamp a section of its stadium per Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman, as the Longhorns recently released a "request for qualifications document" regarding an expansion of the south endzone at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. Although still in its early stages, the expansion is projected to cost $140 million.
One key aspect of the proposal is the demolition of Texas' south endzone scoreboard, known as "Godzillatron." The scoreboard was the largest in the world upon its construction in 2006, and was updated prior to the 2017 season.
With the massive scoreboard no longer in the south endzone, Longhorn brass is looking to add a slew of features to that end of the field.
