AUSTIN — Charlie Strong reportedly has found the man he’ll entrust with his offense for what figures to be a pivotal third season at Texas.
Tulsa offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert has agreed to take the same job with the Longhorns, 247Sports reported Thursday. UT officials and team sources said they could not confirm the job had been offered.
Gilbert, 37, spent one season under Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery, who worked with Baylor coach Art Briles for 16 years. Gilbert is expected to implement an up-tempo spread offense with a mixture of quick passes and an emphasis on the running game, based upon the system designed by Briles.
