The Texas Longhorns are set to lose Cameron Rising, and likely Shane Buechele, but that’s reportedly where the quarterback attrition ends.
In the aftermath of the news that Rising, a former four-star prospect who entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal in late December, would not be returning to Texas, and that Buechele, Texas’ backup quarterback, is going to explore is options in hopes of becoming a graduate transfer, the Longhorns did receive a bit of good news.
According to a report from Chip Brown of Horns247, true freshman quarterback Casey Thompson, who entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal alongside Rising, informed Longhorns head coach Tom Herman on Wednesday night that he intends to remove his name from the NCAA Transfer Portal and return to Texas.
