The pursuit of back-to-back state championships kept Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram from signing with the Texas Longhorns during the early period in December, sparking worries about the solidity of his longtime commitment.
“The biggest reason I didn’t sign was because we were competing for a state championship and I didn’t want to be a distraction,” Ingram told the Austin American-Statesman during preparation for the 2018 Under Armour All-American game.
The consensus four-star prospect noted that he hardly thought about recruiting all season, part of the season why he opted to commit to Texas at the end of May.
