AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman rower Fran Raggi was honored with the inaugural Under-19 Female Athlete of the Year award this week from USRowing, the sport's national governing body.
"I've always looked up to other athletes that have received USRowing Athlete of the Year awards. It also really means a lot to me that I was selected by my [national team] teammates as well as my coaches," Raggi said after learning of her accolade.
Raggi made two junior national team rosters before stepping foot on the Forty Acres. In 2017 at the World Rowing Youth Championships, Raggi raced at five seat in the eight, which placed first in the B-Final.
