At halftime of the basketball game between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday evening, head coach Tom Herman and the football team were honored as Sugar Bowl Champions. After the small ceremony, Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman caught up with Herman for an injury update, among other topics.
Herman said that wide receiver Collin Johnson had arthroscopic surgery on his knee following the season. Johnson, who recently decided to return for his senior season, originally suffered the non-contact injury during practice in early November. As a result, he missed the Texas Tech game and told Burnt Orange Nation that his knee was healthy before the Big 12 Championship game, in which he set the record for most receiving yards with a monster eight-catch, 177-yard performance with one touchdown.
