AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 9 University of Texas women's tennis team registered a 4-0 sweep against LIU Brooklyn (14-8) in a NCAA Championship First-Round match on Saturday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Longhorns (19-4) advance to host No. 18 Texas A&M in the NCAA Second Round on Sunday, May 5 at Noon CT. The Aggies (23-7) posted a 4-3 win against No. 39 Rice (16-8) on Saturday morning in the other first-round matchup in Austin.
Texas grabbed an early 1-0 lead by easily claiming the doubles point. Senior Katie Poluta and junior Petra Granic registered a 6-0 victory against Malin Leysen and Jennifer Gogova at third doubles.
