AUSTIN, Texas – In the 100th meeting in the history of the two programs, No. 6 Texas Women's Basketball (21-4, 12-2 Big 12) defeated Texas Tech (7-18, 1-13 Big 12), 87-72, as Brooke McCarty moved into the program's all-time top-20 for career scoring at the Frank Erwin Center on Wednesday evening.
Totaling 13 points, McCarty (1,472) surpassed Nell Fortner (1,466 points, 1977-1981) on the all-time career-scoring list. McCarty was 100 percent from the free-throw line, shot 5-for-13 on field goals and recorded one three-pointer while adding four steals.
The game marked sophomore guard/forward Joyner Holmes' first start of the season, her season-high 13 points tying with McCarty's for the game-high in points.
