AUSTIN, Texas – Texas football sophomore linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, the Butkus Foundation announced Monday. The award annually recognizes the nation's top linebacker.
This marks the fourth-straight year a Longhorn has been selected as a semifinalist for the award, following Jaylan Ford last season, and DeMarvion Overshown in both 2021 and 2022. Derrick Johnson won the award in 2004 after being a finalist for it in 2003, while Sergio Kindle was also a finalist in 2009.
Hill has been a key playmaker in a Longhorn defense that leads the nation in several statistical categories through eight games this season.
