OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – No. 3 Texas won all five of its preliminary heat races and sent all five boats to their respective grand finals Saturday on the first of two days of the 2017 Big 12 Championships.
Sunday's finals feature grand finals (championship finals) and petite finals (consolation finals), and the Longhorns reached the grand finals in all five races in convincing fashion. Texas set the tone with its first varsity eight, which remains unbeaten this season after knocking off Alabama, Kansas and West Virginia in its afternoon heat in 6:10.666.
The second varsity eight added another open-water win and defeated Kansas State, Kansas and Old Dominion in 6:26.
