This will be the first meeting between Texas and Georgia since 2015 when they met in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in Waco, a match the Bulldogs won, 4-1. The teams last played in Athens in 2003, which Georgia won, 4-2, although the Longhorns won the previous match there in 2000, 4-3. Texas finished as runner-up to Georgia in the 2008 NCAA Tournament when the Bulldogs came out on top, 4-2, in Tulsa, Okla.
