The No. 24 Texas Longhorns are now in danger of a short stay in Arlington for the Big 12 Tournament after dropping the opening game to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 6-4 on Tuesday at Globe Life Field.
Texas got off to a strong start when first baseman Jared Thomas hit an opposite-field home run to lead off the bottom of the first and then took a 4-1 lead in the third inning when struggling second baseman Jack O’Dowd hit another leadoff home run and right fielder Max Belyeu hit a double down the first-base line to score shortstop Jalin Flores and third baseman Peyton Powell.
