LAFAYETTE, La. – Austin Todd hit a two-run double in the top of the 10th inning as No. 24 Texas Baseball won in exciting fashion over Louisiana on Opening Day at M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park. Todd finished the game 3-for-4 with the game-winning two-run double.
Bryce Elder was dominant on the mound, pitching eight innings with nine strikeouts. The sophomore starting pitcher allowed just one run on four hits and no walks. After allowing a one-out infield single in the fifth, Elder retired the next 11-consecutive batters.
Texas grabbed the first lead of the night in the seventh inning on a two-out RBI double by Michael McCann.
