No. 24 Baseball drops Big 12 Tournament opener

ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 24 Texas Baseball dropped its opener in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship to Texas Tech, 6-4, on Tuesday at Globe Life Field.

The Longhorns (35-21) will now face an elimination game against Cincinnati on Wednesday at 4 p.m. This will be the first ever meeting between the two baseball programs.

Ace Whitehead started and pitched five innings, allowing four runs on five hits with one strikeout. He departed with the game knotted at 4-all and did not factor in the decision.

Andre Duplantier II pitched four innings out of the bullpen and struck out six batters.
