AUSTIN, Texas—The No. 23 Texas baseball team pounded out double-digit hits for the second straight game and kept UNLV off the board for the entire afternoon en route to a 7-0 shutout win in the series finale at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday.
Sophomore Patrick Mathis picked up where he left off on Saturday, taking the first pitch he saw over the fence in left. The opposite field blast gave the Longhorns a 1-0 lead and the offense would not look back.
Texas put up a crooked number in the home half of the second inning when, after a Michael Cantu walk and a Kacy Clemens sacrifice bunt, freshman Kody Clemens ripped a single to right center, scoring the DH from second base.
