After pulling out their brooms with a big weekend sweep over the Georgia Bulldogs the No. 2 Texas Longhorns hosted the Houston Christian Huskies on Tuesday at Disch-Falk Filed with the Longhorns emerging victorious in a 12-2 run-rule victory in seven innings that featured several key developments for Texas.
Sophomore second baseman Ethan Mendoza recovered from a 2-for-17 week with his first multi-hit effort in seven contests, going 3-for-5 with five RBI as the bottom of the lineup set the table for him and he came through with clutch hits.
“Mendoza obviously swung the bat really well and he’s been working on some things in the cages to be more consistent with where the barrel is and his barrel awareness,” Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle said.
