HOUSTON, Texas – Ty Madden pitched a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts to lead No. 19 Texas Baseball to a 1-0 win over Houston at Schroeder Park on Friday night. Madden earned his second win of the season and helped the Longhorns improve to 6-4 on the season.
Madden was magnificent from start to finish, allowing just two hits and four total base runners in his second career complete game. The 14 strikeouts are a new career high for Madden after he struck out a career-best 11 hitters last week against BYU.
The complete game shutout was the first by a Longhorn pitcher since Nolan Kingham went the distance in a 2-0 win over Kansas State in 2017.
