ARLINGTON, Texas — The 19th-ranked University of Texas baseball team dropped its season opener to Louisville, 4-3, in extra innings Friday evening at Globe Life Field.

After freshman third baseman Adrian Rodriguez put the Longhorns (0-1) ahead with a solo homer in the 10th inning, the Cardinals (1-0) answered with two runs in the bottom half to punctuate the first day of the Shriners Children's College Showdown.

Louisville left fielder Zion Rose tied the contest with an RBI single, before center fielder Lucas Moore delivered the walk-off base hit.

The Cardinals scored all four of their runs in the final two frames, as Texas was one out away from securing a win in its first contest under head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
